
Awe Reassigned to Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jon Awe has been reassigned to the team from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
During his second call up to the American Hockey League, Awe recorded three assists in three games with Chicago last week. Awe was scoreless in two games with the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins in December while he was scoreless in one game with Chicago in the Wolves 6-3 loss against Hamilton on December 13th.
The Memphis, Tennessee native currently ranks fourth in scoring on the Gladiators with 43 points off of 20 goals and 23 assists. He leads the ECHL in power play goals with 17, an ECHL record for most power play goals in a season by a defenseman.
Awe set an ECHL record posting the Hardest Shot with a 102.2 MPH slapshot during the 2007 RBK ECHL All Star Game Skill Competition on Tuesday, January 16th breaking Jaroslav Obsut's record of 99.3 MPH set in 1999.
Awe should be in the line up for the Gladiators 7:05 p.m. tilt tonight on the Your Best Rate Financial Home Ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Alaska Aces.
