EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - The New Jersey Storm have traded defenseman and team captain Jamie Hanford to the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for forward Bobby Horsey and defenseman Chris Standish, it was announced today by General Manager and Head Coach Jim Brady.

A member of the Storm's inaugural squad last season, Hanford played in all 16 contests while leading the National Lacrosse League (NLL) in face-off victories with 233. In addition, Hanford registered 16 points (7G, 9A) and participated in the 2002 NLL All Star game.

Horsey, a rookie with the Washington Power (now the Colorado Mammoth) last season, registered 18 points (10G, 8A) and ranked first in points among all Power rookies. A four-year starter for Loyola College (MD), Horsey captained his senior team while receiving the Mohler Award as the Greyhounds top male athlete.

Standish, a defensive specialist, comes to the Storm after spending his rookie campaign with Washington where he played in eight contests last season. The London, Ontario native attended the University of Western Ontario.

"This trade is a little risky for us because Jamie is the best draw man in the League, however we feel that we are getting a strong defenseman in Standish and an all-around good player in Horsey," Brady said. Horsey and Standish will join the rest of the Storm squad this weekend when the team returns to its veteran Training Camp at The Center Circle in Rahway, NJ.

Last season, the expansion Storm won four of its last six contests to finish at (5-11). The team averaged nearly 6,000 fans per home game at the Continental Airlines Arena. New Jersey recently traded for two of the top scorers in the NLL, Roy Colsey and Mike Benedict, to help bolster its offense. The Storm will open this season on the road versus the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, December 28 at 7:35 p.m. The team opens at home on Saturday, January 4 vs. Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Eight-game and four-game season ticket plans are on sale now by calling 1-866-NJ STORM. Individual game tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster locations and the Arena box office, by calling 201-507-8900, or by logging on to Ticketmaster.com.
