Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that they have signed goaltender Scott Fankhouser to a contract.
Nick Vitucci, Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel, said of the netminder, "Scott has a lot of experience and will be a help to our organization. I know that he will be solid between the pipes for us all season long. Experience in the nets is so very important to building a winner."
Scott, the 1994 11th round pick of the St. Louis Blues, appeared in 23 games with the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers during the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons. Following his college career at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Scott spent the 1999-00 with Louisville, Greenville, Orlando, and the Thrashers. Scott had a record of 2-11-2 with Atlanta that campaign, which was their first in the National Hockey League. In 2000-01, Fankhouser would appear in seven more contests with the Thrashers, this time with a record of 2-1. Current Storm Head Coach Nick Vitucci, then an assistant coach with the Greenville Grrrowl, coached Scott for three games during the 2001-02 season. Fankhouser has spent time over his career in the ECHL with Reading and Arkansas. Last year, Scott played in Germany.
Opening Night 2004 is October 22nd as Toledo takes on Wheeling, with a post-game concert featuring Firehouse. Tickets for that contest and for all 36 games are now on sale. Toledo Hockey...A History Of Champions!
