Storm Set Team Record for Regular Season Wins in 5-2 Defeat of Sioux City

Sioux City, IA - The Tri-City Storm set a new organization record for most wins in a regular season in the team's 44th win of the year Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The Storm defeated the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 5-2 behind goals from Connor McMenamin, Shane Pinto, Keaton Pehrson, Filip Forsmark, and Brendan Furry. Isaiah Saville made 25 saves on 27 shots in goal to record his 24th win of the year in net for the Storm. Tri-City plays its final two games of a six-game road trip next weekend against Sioux City and Cedar Rapids. The Storm return home on Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th for the final two games of the regular season. The Musketeers jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the 1st period. The goal was scored by Bobby Brink and was assisted by Marcus Kallionkieli and Luke Johnson. The 1st period ended with the Musketeers up by a goal. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 7-6 in the 1st period. Josh Boyer scored a goal at 6:15 of the 2nd period to increase Sioux City's lead to two goals. Just over a minute later, Tri-City got on the scoreboard with Connor McMenamin's 26th goal of the season. The goal was scored on the power play and was assisted by Elias Rosen and Colby Ambrosio. Shane Pinto scored his team leading 27th goal of the season at 10:10 of the 2nd period to tie the game. Pinto's goal was assisted by Brendan Furry. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 11-8 in the 2nd period and the two teams entered the 3rd period in a 2-2 tie for the 2nd consecutive game.

At the 3:31 mark of the 3rd period, Keaton Pehrson scored a power play goal to put Tri-City in front. Pehrson's goal was his 8th of the season and was assisted by Elias Rosen and Filip Forsmark. Forsmark scored his 13th goal of the season at 7:16 of the 3rd period to give the Storm a two-goal advantage. The goal was assisted by Zac Jones and Ronnie Attard. Less that a minute later, at the 7:52 mark of the 3rd period, Brendan Furry netted his 21st goal of the season. Brendan Budy recorded an assist on the goal and Tri-City competed a 5-2 win over the Musketeers following five unanswered goals after trailing 2-0 in the 2nd period. The 92 points recorded in the standings by this year's Storm team set a new team record for most points in a single season.

Tri-City is now just six points away from tying the USHL record for most points in the standings in a single season. The current record of 98 is held by 2011-2012 Green Bay Gamblers and the 2012-2013 Dubuque Fighting Saints. Tri-City is also four wins away from tying the USHL league record for the most wins in a regular season set by the 1998-1999 Des Moines Buccaneers.

Tri-City returns to action Friday in a road game against the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm, with the broadcast beginning on Hockey TV and Storm Radio at 6:45pm.
