Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede scored four goals in the second period en route to a 5-0 blanking of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders before 6,577 fans at the PREMIER Center Saturday night. Blake Bride led the way with two goals and an assist while Ryan Sullivan, Austen Swankler and Andre Lee all added goals in the win. Alec Calvaruso earned his first career shutout in goal with eight saves.

The Herd set a franchise record for fewest shots allowed in a game with eight as they outshot Cedar Rapids 32-8. The Stampede improved to 35-17-7 and earned their 20th home win of the season, tying a franchise record for most home wins at the PREMIER Center, set back during the 2015-16 season. They remain two points back of Waterloo for second place in the Western Conference.

After a rough result the night before against Fargo, the Herd wanted to put up a different performance on Saturday and were looking for a good start. It was clear from the puck drop the Herd were ready to go and they were rewarded with the first goal of the game. Andre Lee picked up a loose rebound in front of the Cedar Rapids net and put it home for his 18th of the season just 6:55 into the period for the only goal of the first. Sioux Falls dominated play though, outshooting the RoughRiders 9-2.

Sioux Falls got rolling in the second when they tallied four goals. Austen Swankler got things started 4:28 into the period with a power play tally. Anthony Romano sent a perfect pass through the crease to an open Swankler who knocked it in for his 11th of the season. Sixteen seconds later the Herd struck again, this time Brian Chambers sent a pass in front of the net for Ryan Sullivan who quickly one-timed it in and the Herd led 3-0.

It remained that way until the 11:41 mark of the period when Blake Bride picked up a loose puck just outside the left circle, spun inside the slot, and wristed a shot past the glove of Cedar Rapids goaltender Troy Kobryn. Less than two minutes later the Herd were on the penalty kill and Bride tallied the clubs 10th shorthanded goal of the season. He took a pass in the slot from Carl Berglund and fired it off the glove of Kobryn, sending the puck high into the air and behind Kobryn where Bride tapped it in for his second of the night and 13th of the season to make it 5-0. Sioux Falls outshot the Riders 12-5 in the period.

Sioux Falls locked things down in the third, outshooting the RoughRiders 11-1 to secure a 5-0 victory. The Herd outshot Cedar Rapids 32-8 on the night and finished 1-for-4 on the power play while Cedar Rapids was 0-for-3.

The Stampede return to action this Tuesday night when they host the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 PM inside the PREMIER Center. It is also U.S. Marines night and the Herd will honor the state champion teams from the Sioux Falls Flyers in between periods. Tickets are on sale now through the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster location.
