Gameday Preview: Storm Seek Team Wins Record Tonight in Sioux City

Sioux City, IA. - One night after clinching an Anderson Cup Championship for the 2nd time in team history, the Tri-City Storm again play for history tonight at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The 2018-2019 Anderson Cup Champion Tri-City Storm are currently tied with the 2003-2004 Anderson Cup Championship for the most regular season wins in organization history. This year's team is also one point behind the team record for most points in a single season. A win tonight by the Storm would give the team the most wins in the regular season by any team in organization history, and also a new team record for most points during a regular season. The Tri-City Storm is hosting an official watch party tonight at the Viaero Center for fans in the Tri-Cities. Tonight's watch party is free to attend, concessions will be available for purchase, along with 2019 Clark Cup Playoff ticket packages. Puck drop for tonight's game at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa is scheduled for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (43-10-3-1) saw an eight-game win streak snapped in overtime last night to the Sioux City Musketeers after the team recorded one point in the standings to win the 2018-2019 regular season championship and the Anderson Cup. The 4-3 overtime loss was also the first game the Storm have dropped to the Musketeers this season. Tonight's road game for Tri-City is the 4th game of a six-game road stretch for the team. Despite the loss last night, the Storm remain one of the USHL's hottest teams with a record of 8-1-1-0 over its last ten games. Tri-City's power play improved to 20.7% on the season after two goals in last night's game. In the 4-3 overtime loss, the Storm got goals in the game from Shane Pinto, Zac Jones, and Brendan Budy. Next weekend, Tri-City will make a return trip to Sioux City to face off against the Musketeers for the third consecutive game before traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the regular season's final road game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The Anderson Cup Champions will return home to the Viaero Center in Kearney for the final two games of the regular season on Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th. Sioux City (27-22-5-2) widened its margin over 7th place Omaha by five points after last night's overtime win over Tri-City and Omaha's loss to the Green Bay Gamblers. The Musketeers are holding on to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference and now have a "magic number" of eight points to clinch a playoff spot after missing the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs by just three points. Marcus Kallionkielli scored twice in last night's game, Josh Boyer provided the Musketeers with the game tying goal in the 3rd period, and Martin Pospisil netted his 15th goal of the season in overtime to give Sioux City its first victory over the Storm this season.
