January 9, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm seek a bounce back victory tonight at the Viaero Center following last night's 4-1 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers. Tickets are still available for tonight's game and can be purchased by visiting www.StormHockey.com or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (7-6-0-1) dropped to 2-1-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Musketeers this season and 3-3-0-0 when playing at home in last night's 4-1 loss at the Viaero Center. Gavin Brindley recorded the Storm's only goal during the 1st period. Steven Bellini notched his third assist of the season on the scoring play. Tri-City's penalty kill finished last night's game 4/4 to improve to 94.5% this season. The Storm's penalty kill has only allowed three goals in fifty-five times being shorthanded this season. However, Tri-City has also scored three shorthanded goals this season. Tri-City's penalty kill is ranked 1st in the USHL, and the Storm's three shorthanded goals also lead the league this year. Tri-City has not lost a game this season when leading after the 1st period or leading after the 2nd period (6-0-0-0 in both instances). Scoring leaders entering tonight's home game for the Storm include; Carter Mazur (6), Hunter Strand (4), Nick Portz (4), Victor Czerneckianair (3), Parker Lindauer (3), and Mark Estapa (3). Following tonight's home game against Sioux City, Tri-City returns to action next week with three consecutive road games against the Fargo Force on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Storm's next home game after tonight's matchup with the Musketeers is on Friday, January 22nd against the Lincoln Stars.

Sioux City (6-7-0-0) looks to tie the season series against the Storm in tonight's matchup after last night's road win. After dropping two home games to the Storm on November 7th and December 18th, Sioux City recorded its first victory of the year against Tri-City in last night's game. The Musketeers scored the first goal of the game and the final three goals of the contest. Chase Bradley, Ben Steeves, Brenden Olson, and Ben Doran all scored goals in the victory. Sioux City goaltender Akira Schmid recorded the win in net after making 21 saves on 22 shots. Musketeers leading scorer Brian Carrabes will serve his final game of a three-game suspension tonight for a boarding incident on New Year's Eve in the Musketeers' 4-1 home loss to the Omaha Lancers. However, Kirklan Irey is expected to return to the lineup tonight after serving the final game of a two-game suspension last night for a cross checking incident in Sioux City's loss on New Year's Eve. A regulation win tonight for Sioux City would bring the team within one point of the Storm in the Western Conference standings. Sioux City completes a three-game weekend tomorrow in a home game against the Fargo Force.

Specials for tonight's home game at the Viaero Center include; $2 Busch Light cans, $2 Coors Light cans, $2 Bottles of Soda, $2 Bottles of Water, and $2 Hot Dogs.

Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. For tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, call 308-338-8144 or visit www.StormHockey.com.
