KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm put together a historic performance Sunday evening at the Viaero Center in a ten-goal defeat of the Omaha Lancers. Tri-City's twelve goals scored during the matchup broke a previous team record that stood for more than twenty years for the most goals netted in a single regular season game. The Storm posted an 11-0 victory at the Viaero Center over the Rochester Mustangs (Defunct) during the organization's inaugural season of play on January 27th, 2001. The record fell 8,408 days later with Sunday night's result. Ryan Smith (2), Vsevolod Logvin (2), Cam Briere, Phillippe Blais-Savoie, Owen Beckner, Zach Bade, Trevor Connelly, Carmelo Crandell, Luke Posthumus, and A.J. Lacroix all netted goals for Tri-City in the victory. Lacroix's goal was the twelfth, and final of the game, and gave the Storm a new single-game record. Tri-City returns to action with back-to-back games next weekend against Omaha in rematches of Sunday night's historic game. Friday's game will be played at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena and will begin at 7:05pm CT. The Storm's home game against the Lancers on Saturday will begin at 6:05pm CT. Tickets to Saturday's home game at the Viaero Center may be purchased online at www.StormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office during Box Office Hours at 308-338-8144.

The scoring play was assisted by Ryan Smith and Jake Rozzi. Philippe Blais-Savoie scored his fourth goal of the year at 12:07 of the 1st period to give the Storm a two-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was netted on an in-between-the-legs style shot. Vsevolod Logvin scored his first career USHL goal sixteen seconds later to give the Storm a 3-0 lead. Logvin's scoring play was assisted by Vladislav Lukashevich and Trevor Connelly. The final goal of the 1st period was netted by Ryan Smith with less than five minutes to play in the period. The goal was also Smith's second shorthanded goal of the matchup. Smith tied Jaden Schwartz's organizational record of two shorthanded goals in a single game on the scoring play. Schwartz, a Stanley Cup Champion, and current Seattle Kraken forward, accomplished the feat on March 6th, 2010, in Tri-City's 5-4 shootout victory over the Youngstown Phantoms at the Viaero Center. Schwartz also netted a goal during the shootout, and was named the game's First Star. Smith's second shorthanded goal of the matchup was scored unassisted. Christian Kocsis netted his fifth goal of the year at 5:49 of the middle period to end Tri-City's run of five unanswered goals. The goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by Drew DellaSalla, and Charlie Lieberman. The Storm responded with an even strength goal from Owen Beckner less than a minute later to regain a five-goal advantage in the rivalry game. Beckner's goal was his eleventh of the season, and was assisted by Charlie Kinsman, and Vsevolod Logvin. Logvin netted his second goal of the game, and second goal of his USHL career with less than four minutes to play in the 2nd period to give the Storm a 7-1 lead in the battle. The goal was assisted by Trevor Connelly and Owen Beckner. The final goal of Sunday's middle period was scored with less than a minute to play by Zach Bade. The goal was his fourth of the year, and was assisted by Blake Steenerson, and Carmelo Crandell. Tri-City outshot Omaha 18-6 during the 2nd period, and the Storm carried a decisive 8-1 lead into Sunday's 3rd period.

The opening goal of the final period of play was netted by Trevor Connelly at 6:18 of the period. Owen Beckner and Dallas Vieau each notched an assist on Tri-City's tenth scoring play of the evening. Tri-City outshot Omaha by a final margin of 42-23 after each team posted 10 shots on net during the 3rd period. The Storm's ten-goal victory over the Lancers gave the team an 18-13-4-4 overall record on the 2023-2024 regular season.

Cameron Korpi stopped 21 of Omaha's 23 shots on net during the matchup, and improved his personal record to 17-8-1-4 on the regular season. Lucas Szyszka made 24 saves on 32 shots in nearly 40 minutes of game time Sunday night. He was replaced by emergency backup goaltender Ty Tanton following Tri-City's eighth scoring play of the matchup.
