Lancers Drop Their Thrid Game of the Weekend

KEARNEY, NE. - The Omaha Lancers took on the Tri-City Storm this afternoon (2/4), and both teams were looking for their first points of the weekend. Tri-City was entering their third home game, and Omaha was stepping into their third road game of the weekend.

The Lancers dropped their first two contests this week against Sioux City, 5-2. And the Lincoln Stars, 7-3.

The Storm on the other hand had back-to-back home games against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Falling Friday night, 5-2, and Saturday night, 4-3 in overtime.

The Storm had a dominate first frame, netting four goals on 14 shots.

The first goal coming just 15 seconds into the game with Cam Briere picking up a feed from Ryan Smith and making a move on Lucas Szyszka for the early 1-0 lead.

Following 12 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Storm gathered three more quick goals. Phillipe Blais-Savoie netted his fourth of the season, Vsevolod Logvin tallied his first USHL goal, and Ryan Smith tipped in his 15th while shorthanded. Sending the Storm into the first intermission with a 4-0 lead over Omaha.

Tri-City would end up adding four more goals to their total in the second period. With Ryan Smith netting his second shorthanded goal of the afternoon, Owen Becker scoring on the rush, Logvin scoring his second of the day on a one-timer, followed by Zach Bade scoring his fourth of the season on a wrap-around with 47 second left in the frame.

Charlie Kinsman, Trevor Connelly, Owen Beckner, Blake Steenerson, Vsevolod Logvin and Carmelo Crandell all got on the scoresheet with assists as well in the period.

Christian Kocsis would score in the second period for the Lancers for his fifth of the year on the power-play. As the storm took an 8-1 lead into the final period.

Following Tri-City's eighth goal of the night, Szyszka was pulled in exchange for Ty Tanton. Making his USHL debut in net, coming in from the Omaha Mastery 18U AAA team.

The third period brought on more scoring for the Storm with Trevor Connelly scoring his 16th goal of the season, followed by Carmelo Crandell netting his fourth at the halfway mark of the period.

Later on, Luke Posthumus knocked in a wrap around goal making it an 11-1 game. Tacking on his third goal of his USHL career.

Gabe Kenne was able to send a shot by Cameron Korpi late in the third period with 2:33 remaining. Adding Lucas Brennan on with an assist.

The scoring was closed out with a goal by AJ Lacroix with just 48 second remaining to hand Tri-City the 12-2 victory.

The Lancers will be back in action on home ice Thursday night for a makeup game with the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop is set for 7:05PM CST. and can be streamed on FloSports and Mixlr.
