Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm (16-5-2=34) snapped a three game winless streak with a 3-1 win over the Trenton Titans tonight at the Toledo Sports Arena. This marks the first time in franchise history (in eleven tries) that the Storm has defeated the Titans in regulation.

The Storm scored the game's first goal, running the team's record to 12-0-1 when scoring first. Defenseman, Andrew Hutchinson, started the rush and fed a speeding Nick Parillo into the offensive end on the left wing side. As Parillo went deep, he attempted to return the puck to Hutchinson who was charging towards the goal; however, the puck went all the way through the crease and, fortunately for the Storm, Grady Moore came hard on the back door and re-directed the puck into the net for the 1-0 lead at 14:19 of the first.

In the second period, Storm captain Jeff Mitchell went to the belly to block a slap shot by Trenton's Ian Forbes from the left wing point. Mitchell stopped the puck and started the rush, as Jeff Johnstone dug the puck out and chipped to the breaking Mike Bayrack who carried into the offensive zone and ripped a snap shot from the mid-slot that beat Trenton goaltender, David St. Germaine, stick side.

In the third, Trenton bounced back with a power play goal by David Schneider. After the Storm had killed the front end of a long 5-on-3, Schneider took a feed from Syl Apps and fired a wrist shot from low in the right circle that snuck through traffic out front to make it 2-1 with 10:14 remaining.

But that would be the only shot out of the 34 taken by Trenton that would get by Storm goaltender, Doug Teskey, who was brilliant-making several spectacular stops including one which required him to go pipe-to-pipe in the complete splits to reject a back door attempt by Trenton 's Adam Edinger in the third period. Nick Parillo added an empty netter with 16 seconds left to electrify the home town crowd, who saw the Storm run their record at the Sports Arena to 12-1-1.
