Storm Down Force for Ninth Straight Win

FARGO, ND. - The Tri-City Storm downed the Fargo Force by a final score of 3-2 Friday night at Scheels Arena to win nine consecutive games. Gavin Brindley, Christian Fitzgerald, and Mitchell Miller all netted goals in Tri-City's victory. Arsenii Sergeev recorded the win in goal for the Storm.

The opening goal of the game was scored by Gavin Brindley at 8:34 of the 1st period. The goal was Brindley's eighth of the season and was scored on the powerplay. Tanner Adams and Andrew Strathmann each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Fargo 15-3 in the 1st period and carried a one goal lead into the 2nd period.

Christian Fitzgerald scored a powerplay goal less than three minutes into the 2nd period to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead. Fitzgerald's goal was netted at 2:53 of the period and was his third goal of the season. Gavin Brindley and Andrew Strathmann each notched an assist on the scoring play. At 14:25 of the 2nd period, Fargo's Bret Link scored a powerplay goal to cut the Storm's lead in half. The goal was Link's fifth of the year and was assisted by Cole Knuble and Charlie Lurie. With less than two minutes to play in the period, Mitchell Miller scored his eighth goal of the season to put the Storm in front again by two goals. Miller's goal was scored on the powerplay at 18:34 of the period. The goal was assisted by Vinny Borgesi and Cole O'Hara. Tri-City outshot Fargo 13-11 in the 2nd period. The Storm led the Force 3-1 entering the 3rd period.

Charlie Lurie scored a powerplay goal less than two minutes into Friday's 3rd period to cut Tri-City's lead to 3-2. Lurie's goal was his third of the season and was assisted by Trevor Griebel and Bret Link. Lurie's goal was the final scoring play of the game and Tri-City ended the night with a 3-2 road victory at Scheels Arena. Despite being outshot 16-9 in the 3rd period, the Storm outshot the Force 37-30 overall in the game.

Arsenii Sergeev backstopped Tri-City to victory for the 11th time this season. Sergeev made 28 saves on 30 shots to pick up the win in goal. Anton Castro recorded the loss in net for the Force after making 34 saves on 37 shots.

Tri-City improved to 14-2-0-0 in the victory and remains in sole possession of 1st place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm has now won nine consecutive games and can tie the organization's record for most consecutive wins with a victory over Fargo in Saturday's matchup. Tri-City's 2003-2004 and 2014-2015 teams are the only teams in the organization's history to notch 10 straight wins.
