Force Fall to Storm 3-2

It was a night full of powerplay goals as the Force returned to Scheels Arena for their first game on ice since November 6th. The Force rallied in the second half but two powerplay goals and a 24 save performance from Anton Castro fell just short as they dropped game one of the weekend to the Tri-City Storm, 3-2.

The Storm struck first 8:37 into the period with a power play goal from Gavin Brindley, he snuck one past Force netminder Anton Castro after a flurry of action in front of the net. Tri-City dominated the opening frame thanks to three powerplay opportunities, outshooting Fargo 15-3.

The Storm added a second powerplay goal 2:53 into the second securing a 2-0 lead. At 14:25 the Force followed up with a powerplay goal of their own thanks to a snipe from Bret Link over the top right shoulder of Sergeev. With under two minutes remaining in the period Tri-City netted their third PP goal of the game thanks to a goal from Mitchell Miller on a 4 v 3 opportunity. The second period saw the most minutes served for both teams, Tri-City finishing with 30 PIM and the Force with 20.

Fargo came out hot in the third with a goal from Charlie Lurie just 1:54 into the period. He hammered in the rebound off a shot from Trevor Griebel. Force netminder Anton Castro made big glove saves in the third giving the Force a chance to tie late. Fargo saw some good looks at the net but fell just short in the final frame, dropping the opening game of the weekend, 3-2.
