
Storm Defeat Stars 2-1 in Shootout

Lincoln, NE - The Tri-City Storm defeated rival Lincoln 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night at the Ice Box in Lincoln, NE. Colton Kalezic scored his 1st career goal with under three minutes to play in the 1st period for Tri-City's only regulation goal of the night. Colby Ambrosio and Zac Jones scored in the shootout and Isaiah Saville picked up the win in goal for the Storm.
Lincoln scored just over three minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead over the Storm. Matthew Barbolini netted his 1st goal of the season at the 3:18 mark of the period. The goal was assisted by Josh Lopina. Tri-City provided an answer to Lincoln's only goal of the night with under three minutes to play in the 1st period. Colton Kalezic netted his 1st career goal on the power play at the 17:15 minute mark to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was assisted by Zac Jones and Colby Ambrosio. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 11-7 in the 1st period.
The next two periods ended without either team finding a goal, and Tri-City skated into overtime for the third consecutive game. Three on three overtime ended without a goal and the Storm would need a shootout to decide the game for the second night of the weekend. After neither team scored in the first round of the shootout, Tri-City's Colby Ambrosio gave the Storm the lead in the shootout in the 2nd round. Ambrosio buried a shot behind Lincoln goaltender Tyler Johnson, and Isaiah Saville stopped Stars shooter Devlin McCabe on the other end of the ice. Zac Jones scored next to end the shootout, and give Tri-City a 2-1 shootout win over rival Lincoln.
Goaltender Isaiah Saville stopped 25 of Lincoln's 26 shots to record his 5th victory of the season goal. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 34-26 in 65 minutes of regulation and overtime hockey. In the win, the Storm improved to 2-0 on the season against the Stars. Tri-City is now atop the USHL league standings with 17 points.
The Storm return to action Friday night in a road game against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Puck drop at is scheduled for 7:05pm, with the broadcast beginning on Storm Radio at 6:45pm.
