Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, Neb. - Wade Allison finished with a team-high three points, Dan Labosky reached 100 points in his USHL career and the Tri-City Storm clinched the Western Conference regular season title with a 4-1 victory over the Fargo Force Saturday at the Viaero Center.
The regular season conference title is the Storm's second ever, and first since 2003-04, when the Storm won the Anderson Cup.
The game shifted in the third when Allison scored a shorthanded goal at 5:08 to cap off his trio of points and make it 3-1 Storm. Labosky scored two goals, giving the third-year forward 101 points.
Jake Kielly made 24 saves to capture the win, while Ryan Wischow lost making 26 saves.
The Storm has 72 points and plays a home-and-home with the Omaha Lancers to wrap up the season.
Dan Labosky earned his 100th career point thanks to Wade Allison and Alex Limoges; both of Labosky's line mates played essential roles. Limoges whipped the puck to Allison behind cage and moved away to draw defensive attention. Allison backhanded the puck into Wischow, but the goalie could not handle the rebound. Labosky tallied at 7:12 of the first.
Five Storm players have had at least 100 career points; Labosky, Garrett Gamez, Alex Hudson, Bill Thomas, Konrad Reeder and Marino Lamoureux. Labosky participated in his 150th regular season game in Friday's game.
Fargo's Blake Lizotte deflected Evan Bell's slap shot at 2:32 of the second to tie the game at 1.
The tying tally set the stage for the Labosky-Limoges-Allison line to strike. At 7:06 of the second, Labosky snapped a shot leaning backwards at the right post around Wischow to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. Once again, Allison and Limoges picked up the helpers.
Allison completed his three-point night with one of his prettiest tallies of the season. Rumbling at the blue line in a one-on-one attack shorthanded, the forward deked through one defender and scored on a forehand to place the Storm up two.
Jake Wahlin scored with 2:41 left to ice the game.
Next weekend, Tri-City completes the 2016 regular season with a home-and-home against the Omaha Lancers. First, the Storm travels to play Omaha on Friday, April 8, at 7:05 p.m. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with the Viaero Wireless Pregame Show on The Breeze 94.5 FM - kliqfm.com. The Storm's final home game is Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Midway, on Saturday, April 9, at 7:05 p.m.
