Storm Begins Weekend With Road Win Over Lancers

RALSTON, NE. - The Tri-City Storm posted a 6-0 road victory over the Omaha Lancers Friday night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena to begin a two-game weekend series. Tri-City will host Omaha tomorrow night at the Viaero Center for the organization's Hockey & Heels Night. Zach Bade (5,6), Cam Briere (15, 16), Blake Steenerson (4), and A.J. Lacroix (8) netted goals for the Storm in the road victory. Cameron Korpi recorded his second shutout of the 2023-2024 regular season in a 20-save effort for the Storm. Puck drop for tomorrow's rematch is set for 6:05pm CT.

Blake Steenerson netted the lone goal of Friday's opening period less than three minutes into the matchup to give Tri-City a one-goal lead in the battle. Steenerson's goal was netted at 2:48 of the 1st period, and was assisted by Carmelo Crandell and Charlie Kinsman. The Storm outshot the Lancers by an 11-6 margin during Friday's opening period. Tri-City was 12-6-0-3 when scoring the first goal of the game, and 13-3-0-2 when leading after the 1st period entering Friday night's game.

Zach Bade netted his first goal of the period, and sixth goal of the season, less than three minutes into Friday's middle period to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead in the matchup. Blake Steenerson and Carmelo Crandell each collected an assist on the scoring play. A.J. Lacroix scored a powerplay goal at 5:44 of the 2nd period to give the Storm a three-goal lead in the rivalry matchup. The goal was his eighth of the year, and was assisted by Owen Beckner and Seth Constance. Cam Briere netted his fifteenth goal of the season less than a minute later to put Tri-City ahead 4-0 in the game. Briere's scoring play was assisted by Charlie Kinsman. The final goal of Friday's 2nd period was scored by Zach Bade at 13:17 of the period. Bade's goal was his second of the game, and sixth of the season. Blake Steenerson and Philippe Blais-Savoie each collected an assist on the play. The Storm outshot the Lancers 22-8 during the 2nd period, and Tri-City carried a five-goal lead into the final period of Friday's game. The Storm held a 14-0-2-0 record when leading after the 2nd period this season entering this weekend's slate of games against the Lancers.

The lone goal of Friday's 3rd period was netted by Cam Briere at 12:39 of the period. The goal was Briere's second of the game, and sixteenth of the regular season. The scoring play was also Tri-City's second on the powerplay in Friday night's rivalry game. Vladislav Lukashevich and Luke Posthumus each recorded an assist on the scoring play. The Storm outshot the Lancers by a 19-6 margin in the 3rd period, and 52-20 overall during the battle. Tri-City's 52 shots on goal set a new season-high for most shots on net during a single game.

Cameron Korpi notched his eighteenth victory of the season in goal for Tri-City in a shutout effort. Korpi also denied Lancers' forward David Deputy on a penalty shot attempt during Friday's 2nd period. Lucas Szyszka recorded the loss in goal for Omaha after making 18 saves on 22 shots in less than 28 minutes of playing time during Friday's contest. Mikhail Yegorov stopped 28 shots on 30 attempts in nearly 31 minutes in net for the Lancers.

Tri-City improved to 19-13-4-4 overall in the victory, and 3-0-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against Omaha this season.
