
Steel Drop Capitols for Second Straight Home Win

The Chicago Steel defeated the Madison Capitols 4-1 at Fox Valley Ice Arena Friday night...Chicago opened the game firing and scored the first goal just 48 seconds into action before adding another four minutes later to take the lead for good...Friday was the second time this season the Steel limited their opponent to just one goal (Nov. 18 vs YNG, 2-1 OTW); the team has two shutout wins otherwise this season...The Steel have recorded a point in 11 of their last 12 games...Chicago has not lost a game when leading after two periods (8-0-0-0)...The Steel outshot Madison, marking the eighth game this season they've outshot their opponent...Chicago is 5-1-0-2 in games they outshoot their opponent...The Steel are 8-1-2-1 since Dec. 30 and have just one regulation loss during that span.
Michigan commit Michael Hage became the first Steel skater to score 20 goals this season, notching his 20th and 21st goals in the win. The multi-point game was Hage's 15th this season and extended his point streak to seven games during which he has 13 points. Hage has scored a goal in five of the last six games and leads the Steel in points (44) and goals (21).
Maine commit Brady Arneson scored his first goal of the season while skating in his first game this season due to injury. Arneson skated in 39 games last season with the Steel and scored five points with two goals.
Michael Emerson scored his third goal of the season in the first period that became the game-winner. In eight games this season, Emerson has registered a point in all but one of them, notching four assists and seven points.
Cornell commit Charlie Major potted two assists in the win. He has scored a point in six of the last seven games and has 12 points in that span. Major's 24 assists lead the Steel.
North Dakota commit Grayden Slipec and Ben Yurchuk each recorded an assist for the Steel. Slipec's assist was his first point since Dec. 30. Yurchuk has potted an assist in every other game dating back to Dec. 29. He has eight assists in that 14-game span.
Boston College commit Michael Hagens skated in his 100th career USHL game on Friday night, all with the Steel. Hagens leads Steel defensemen in points (22) and assists (19).
Augustana commit Christian Manz made his first start since Jan. 5 and posted a great performance, stopping 22 shots to net his eighth win of the season.
