Storm Acquire Michael Giugovaz from Spitfires
November 11, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Guelph Storm News Release
The Guelph Storm have announced that they have acquired goaltender Michael Giugovaz from the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for a 10th round selection in 2016.
Drafted in the 10th round of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection by the Peterborough Petes, Giugovaz played 52 games with the Petes before being traded to the Bulls for the latter half of 2013-14. In 2014-15 he spent the season with the London Knights recording a record of 25-12-1-1. Starting this season in Windsor, the overager has a goals against average of 3.36 and a 0.895 save percentage in 11 games.
"We are pleased to have acquired a talented overage goalie," Storm GM Mike Kelly said. "I have seen Michael play many outstanding games. This move allows us to go forward and trade Justin Nichols to a contending team, and at the same time help the Storm for the future."
Suspended five games for his altercation with Justin Nichols on Sunday, Michael will join the rest of the Storm later this week.
