"Just Stop It" Anti-Bullying Campaign Kicks off Saturday
November 11, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
The kick-off of the "Just Stop It" Anti-Bullying Campaign is approaching quickly, this Saturday, November 14th when the IceDogs play host to the defending Memorial Cup Champion Oshawa Generals.
At Saturday's game, the IceDogs will be initiating a challenge to fans, asking them to help us Just Stop It. There will be Just Stop It signs on every seat that night and we encourage everyone in attendance to join us in taking a stand against bullying during the mid-period break in the first period by silently standing and holding up their sign.
During and after the game we will also ask everyone to take a photo with their Just Stop It sign, share it across their social media and then pass along the sign to a friend and ask them to do the same. Our hope is that with this effort we can take a social epidemic that has been fueled by social media and flip the script by using social media to help put an end to it.
In recognition of the fact that bullying is an especially key issue for many students, the IceDogs want to see as many students out supporting the cause as possible and as a result are introducing a special, one night only, youth/student price of only $13 for any available seating for Saturday's game.
While Saturday's game is the official kick off of the "Just Stop It" campaign, things have unofficially kicked off with IceDogs staff, players and fans helping to spread the word about the campaign by kick starting the social media campaign with a variety of photos of everyone with their "Just Stop It" signs. Those photos can be seen on the IceDogs and Just Stop It social media feeds, so check out @OHLIceDogs and @JustStopIt2015 on twitter and facebook.com/NiagaraIceDogs and facebook.com/juststopit2015 for continued updates now and throughout the campaign.
In addition to the game, the Just Stop It signs are also being distributed throughout the Niagara region as a part of the Niagara IceDogs school programs, where IceDogs players and staff are helping to spread the anti-bullying message in their presentations.
Help us continue to draw attention to the "Just Stop It" campaign and help us end bullying. Join us this Saturday as we come together to take a stand against bullying.
