Guelph Storm News Release
Guelph Storm General Manager and Head Coach, George Burnett has announced the acquisition of overage defenceman Jack Hanley from the Hamilton Bulldogs in exchange for a 2nd round selection in 2019, a 4th (NB) in 2020 and a 3rd in 2021.
Hanley, a five-foot-11, 190-pound defenceman from Whitby, Ontario, was the Bulls' fourth round pick (64th Overall) in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. During his four seasons in Belleville/Hamilton, he appeared in 234 regular-season games recording 5 goals and 39 assists for 44 points, adding three points in 29 playoff games.
"Jack brings a wealth of experience and leadership to our blue line," said Burnett. "He was a significant contributor to a championship team in Hamilton last season and will complement our current group very well. We expect Jack to be a very positive addition on the ice and in the community."
Hanley was part of the final draft class taken by Belleville before the franchise relocated to Hamilton in 2015. The 20 year old was one of three players left on the Bulldogs Championship team who also played in Belleville.
He will join the rest of the Storm at training camp which kicks off on August 28. Further details to be announced in the coming days.
