
Firebirds' Oulahen, Team Canada Face-Off vs. Team USA in Hlinka Gretzky Cup Semi-Finals Friday

Flint, Mich. - Flint Firebirds' Head Coach Ryan Oulahen and Team Canada will face-off against Team USA in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup semi-finals tonight. The game will be internationally televised on the NHL Network in the United States and on TSN in Canada beginning at 9 p.m. (ET).
Oulahen is one of three coaches that have been tasked to lead Canada's National Men's Under-18 Team for the prestigious tournament, with the Gold Medal game slated for Saturday, Aug. 11.
Canada holds a perfect 3-0 record, posting victories over Switzerland, Slovakia and Sweden. The United States have a 2-1 record, besting Czech Republic and Finland before falling to Russia. The winner between Canada and the United States will play Sweden for the Gold Medal Saturday at 9 p.m. (ET). The loser will play Russia for Bronze Saturday at 5 p.m. (ET) with both games slated to also be televised on the NHL Network in the U.S. and TSN in Canada.
The Hlinka Gretzky Cup features the best under-18 players from around the globe in a premier best-on-best international hockey tournament. In the 27-year history of the event (formerly known as the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup), Canada has won 21 gold medals. Firebirds' forward Ty Dellandrea helped Canada capture gold last year in Breclav, Czech Republic, with a 4-1 win over the Czechs.
