Stockton Takes 9-6 Wild One from Shorthanded Utah

West Valley City, Utah - The Stockton Thunder defeated the Utah Grizzlies 9-6 Monday night at Maverik Center before a weeknight crowd of 5,659.

The Grizzlies played shorthanded without starting goaltender Andrew Engelage, leading scorer Paul McIlveen and third-leading scorer Mitch Wahl who served game two of a three-game ECHL suspension.

Utah tied the game at one in the first period and inched the contest from 4-1 to 4-3 with a pair of five-on-three power-play goals in the second period. The depleted group hung tough throughout the contest and battled until the end as they got the score from 8-4 to 8-6 in the final 4:05.

Ryan Howse had three assists in the contest, Bryan Cameron extended his scoring streak to six games with one goal and two assists and Drew MacKenzie extended his scoring streak to five games in the game. Nick Tuzzolino (one goal, one assist) and Riley Armstrong (two goals) chipped in two points in the process. 10 of Utah's 14 active skaters had at least a point.

Utah outshot Stockton 44-30, extended their power-play scoring streak to six games and scored two power-play goals for the third-straight game.

The Grizzlies open three games in three nights on the road in California starting Friday in Stockton at 8:30 p.m. Utah continues in San Francisco Saturday at 8:15 p.m. and Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

Utah returns home Thanksgiving Weekend to host the Alaska Aces on Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
