
Stingrays Fall to Cyclones 3-2

Cincinnati, OH -The South Carolina Stingrays (6-9-0-1) wrapped up a six-game road trip Tuesday morning, falling to the Cincinnati Cyclones (8-1-0-2) 3-2 at U.S. Bank Arena.
The Cyclones kicked off the scoring at 5:08 of the first period when forward Josh Shalla tapped a pass past Stingrays goaltender Shawn Hunwick (9 saves on 10 shots). Hunwick would leave the contest and be replaced by Ryan Zapolski (L, 19 saves on 21 shots). The Stingrays tied the game at 13:28 with defenseman Tommy Cross' fifth goal of the season beating Cyclones netminder Zoltan Hetenyi (W, 16 saves on 18 shots) between the legs with a wrist shot from the left-wing point. Defenseman Ryan Turek and forward Mike Hamilton earned assists.
Cyclones forward Francois Bouchard reclaimed the lead at 17:23 of the second period slipping a shot past Zapolski along the far post.
Forward Chris Langkow buried his first goal as a Stingray early in the third period lifting a wraparound chance over the left pad of Hetenyi at 5:03. Forward Alden Hirschfeld grabbed the lone assist. Shalla buried his second of the game and the game-winning marker at 16:08. The Cyclones had the only power play of the game and finished 0-for-1.
