Sting Weekend Preview
October 21, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sarnia Sting News Release
After winning both games at home last weekend, the Sting improved to 7-2-1-0 on the season; the franchise's best start since 2011-12 (8-2-0-0). That 2011-12 roster featured current NHLers Alex Galchenyuk, Nail Yakupov, Reid Boucher, Ryan Spooner & Connor Murphy. Sting Captain, Daniel Nikandrov is the only current player who was a member of that team.
The Club's 7-2-1-0 start earned them an honorable mention in this week's CHL Top 10 rankings. Thursday's opponent, Kitchener, was ranked 7th this week.
Similar to last season, the Sting are getting the job done by committee. Through the first 10 games, the Sting have seen 14 different players find the back of the net at least once. Leading the way is sophomore forward Troy Lajeunesse who has registered 6 goals and 2 assists.
The Sting remain atop the West Division standings, tied for 1st with divisional rival, Windsor.
The Sting return to action tomorrow night at the Sarnia Sports & Entertainment Centre when they take on the Kitchener Rangers (ranked 7th in CHL Top 10) at 7:05 PM. Thursday's game marks the club's annual Halloween Game, presented by Value Village. Click here for details on how to enter the Costume Contest and win big prizes.
On Friday night the Sting head north to take on the Soo Greyhounds for their second game in as many nights. Fans can catch the road game on CHOK 1070AM, online here, or by following along via live tweets.
