Stewart To Return Only When Back is Ready

November 15, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today, an official update on the condition of president, general manager and head coach, Chris Stewart. Stewart had major back surgery in the offseason, and has been recovering since prior to camp. Former Eagles' goaltender and assistant coach, Ryan Bach, has replaced Stewart in the locker room and on the bench as interim head coach. Both, Stewart's surgery and Bach's interim promotion have been fully supported by the Eagles organization.

In September, Stewart had a dual disc replacement procedure performed on his long-aching back. The procedure required FDA approval due to its severity. There is no timetable for Stewart's return and he will not return until he and his doctors have full confidence and comfort in his recovery. Stewart, however, is doing very well and is arguably ahead of the doctors' pre-surgery predictions.
