Rage Sign Veteran D-man, Remain Third in Coaches Poll

November 15, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage signed veteran defenseman Matt Frick today as they held their final practice in preparation for tomorrow's showdown with the four-time defending Southern Conference Champion Laredo Bucks at Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m.

Frick (6-foot-0, 190 lbs.) has recorded 120 points (23g-97a) and 253 penalty minutes over his 361-game career and joins the Rage after spending last season with the New Mexico Scorpions. The seventh-year pro helped lead the Scorpions to the Southwest Division title and an appearance in the Southern Conference Finals where they eventually lost to the Bucks.

"Matt adds another veteran presence to our blue line, which is an area where you can never have enough experience," said Rage head coach Tracy Egeland. "He's dependable, moves the puck well, and does whatever it takes to get the job done."

After four years at Lake Superior State, Frick turned pro in 2001-02 with the ECHL's Richmond Renegades. He then moved to the Central Hockey League, where before last season's run with New Mexico he also played for the San Angelo Saints (2002-2005) and Corpus Christi Rayz (2005-06). The signing reunites Frick with Rocky Mountain goaltender Scott Reid for a sixth consecutive season. The two have been teammates every season since the 2002-03 campaign when both were in San Angelo.

The Rage's tilt tomorrow against Laredo features a match-up of the second and third ranked teams in the latest CHL Coaches Poll, which was released today. The Youngstown SteelHounds (11-0-1), who handed the Bucks their only loss of the season last weekend, leap-frogged the defending President's Cup Finalists to sit atop the bi-monthly poll. Laredo is second with a record of 11-1-0, and Northwest Division-leading Rocky Mountain is third in the eyes of the coaches with a mark of 7-1-1. Complete poll results are listed below.

Tickets for tomorrow's game range in price from $18-$43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet.

Rage season tickets, mini-packs, and group plans are still available for the 2007-08 season by calling 303-439-RAGE. For more information, visit www.rockymountainrage.com.
