Bucks In Rocky Mountain Friday To Play Rage

BROOMFIELD, CO- The Southern Conference leading Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will take on Northwest Division leading Rocky Mountain Friday at the Broomfield Event Center. Face off is set for 8:05pm CST. The Bucks are looking for their second straight win, and their 12th in 13 games.

The Bucks will start their three-game road trip Friday as they take on one of the most improved teams in the CHL. After winning just 17 games last season, the Rage have started 7-1-1.

Laredo got back on the winning track Tuesday afternoon as they came from behind to beat Rio Grande Valley 3-2 in overtime. Captain Serge Dube scored two-goals, including the OT game-winner just 29 seconds into the extra session. Igor Agarunov scored his second goal of the season in the first period, and Veteran Jeff Bes handed out two assists. Kevin Beech improved to 5-0 in net making 17 saves for Laredo.

Bes comes into Friday's game atop the CHL scoring charts. Bes (9-15=24) leads the league with 24 points, and is tied with Rocky Mountain's Scot Wray for the CHL's top spot. Chris Korchinski (7-12=19) is fifth in the league in scoring with 19 points, while captain Serge Dube leads all CHL defenseman with 13 points (5-8=13), and Brent MacSween leads all CHL rookies in scoring with 13 points (8-5=13). MacSween also leads the league in power-play goals with six. Bucks goalie's Kevin Beech (5-0) and Dustin Traylen (6-1) have posted two shutouts apiece, and are among the league leaders in goaltender stats, combining for a 1.75 goals against average, and a .923 save percentage.

The Rage come into the game leading the Northwest Division at 7-1-1, and are undefeated at home in regulation at 5-0-1.

The Rage have a familiar face to Bucks fans, as former Laredo All-Star Brent Cullaton has captained the Rage to their fast start. Cullaton, who was a key member of the Bucks two President's Cup Championship teams, registered his 400th career point earlier this season. For the season Cullaton has scored one goal and handed out 11 assists for 12 points. Friday marks the first time that Cullaton will play against his former team.

The Rage are led in scoring by Wray (24 points), Simon Watson (8-7=15), and Cullaton (1-11=12). Scott Reid (5-0) and Terry Dunbar (2-1-1) have shared the goaltending duties for the Rage this season.

The Bucks and Rage will meet in Laredo on January 30th.

**Bucks Drop To #2 In Coaches Poll**

The second CHL coaches poll was released Thursday, with the Bucks dropping out of the top spot to number two. Youngstown took over as the number one team in the poll.

The Bucks picked up two of the seventeen first place votes, with Youngstown garnering the other 15 (teams cannot vote for themselves). The CHL coaches poll is voted on by all 17 head coaches and will be released on the 1st and 15th of each month.

**Bucks Notes**

*In their last three games the Bucks are a combined 1-19 on the power-play. Their last power-play goal came in the first period last Friday night against Corpus Christi. Overall this season the Bucks are 16-77 (20.8 %) with the man advantage.

*Laredo is the only CHL team with out a road loss this season (6-0). Youngstown is unbeaten on the road in regulation (11-0-1).

*Following the game against the Rage Laredo will travel an hour down the road to Fort Collins, Colorado to play the Colorado Eagles Saturday night in a match-up of last seasons President's Cup Finals.
