Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will try to build on their Central Hockey League record shutout streak and four game win streak Saturday night against the Mississippi RiverKings. After consecutive shutouts of Tulsa, Austin, and Mississippi in their last three games, the Mudbugs now own a shutout streak of 192:29, which is a new CHL record.
The previous record was held by the 2001-02 Tulsa Oilers, who held their opponents without a goal for 192:27. The Mudbugs streak of three straight shutout wins also ties the league record. During the streak, John DeCaro is 2-0 with 57 saves and carries an individual shutout streak of 132:29 right now. The other shutout belongs to Ken Carroll, who tied another CHL record with the 22nd shutout of his career last week against Austin .
All that is secondary, however, to the Mudbugs four game winning streak that has gotten them back on track after a rough start. The 'Bugs have outscored opponents 10-1 during the streak. Bossier-Shreveport has made an appearance in the second CHL Coaches' poll at number 10 after improving their record to 4-5-1.
The next challenge for the Mudbugs will be their sixth meeting this season with the RiverKings at 7:05 Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center . After playing each other six times in the first five weeks of the season, Saturday will be the last game between the 'Bugs and 'Kings until January fifth. Mississippi leads the season series 3-2, but Bossier-Shreveport has won back-to-back meetings by a combined score of 6-1. Before they host the Mudbugs again on Saturday, the 7-3 RiverKings will play a Friday night game against the red-hot Youngstown Steelhounds.
The Mudbugs and RiverKings will drop the puck at 7:05 on Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center . If you're tuning in to hear the game on News Radio 710 AM KEEL, the pregame show will get underway at 6:45 pm, and don't forget you can watch the game live online for free on the CHL network at www.nifty-tv.com/chl/
