Steve Martinson Named Assistant Coach for the 2015 Ccm ECHL All Star Classic
January 9, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The ECHL announced today that Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson has been named Assistant Coach for the ECHL All Star Game in Orlando, presented by Visit Orlando.
Martinson was selected as an Assistant Coach, due to the Americans having the top record in the western conference, and second best record in the ECHL as of December 27th, which was the determining date for coaches to be selected. Greg Poss of the Florida Everbaldes will be the Head Coach for the game.
Steve Martinson is in his third season as Head Coach and General Manager in Allen. He led the Americans to back to back Presidents' Cup Championships in the CHL in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons. Martinson won his 800th game last March while in Allen, and is two games away from his 1300th game behind the bench (1298).
"It's an honor to be named one of the coaches," said Steve Martinson." It's a reflection on your team and this team is a lot of fun to coach. The transition to the ECHL has been great for our organization and our fans."
The ECHL All Star Classic, presented by Visit Orlando, is scheduled for Wednesday, January 21st at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Martinson, along with Americans forward Jack Combs, will represent the team at the game.
