St. Cloud Rox News Release
Bismarck, ND - Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) hit his sixth home run of the season but St. Cloud (16-19) fell to the Bismarck Larks (24-11) by a score of 12-2. The game was called due to a rainstorm after eight innings of play.
Stephens got the scoring going for St. Cloud in the top of the fourth inning, with a solo home run to left field. It was his third of the season at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark and his fifth against the Larks. The other scoring inning for the Rox came in the seventh inning. Jack Barrie (Northwestern Ohio) doubled to left field and was later scored on a Sean Ross (San Diego State) double.
Will Warren (Southeastern Louisiana) made the start on the mound, striking out six batters in just over three innings pitched. Spencer Mraz (Miami-Ohio) pitched three and two thirds innings, giving up three hits and striking out three batters. Sergio Esparza (Arkansas Pine-Bluff) pitched the eighth inning, making it back-to-back nights he has seen work on the mound.
The Rox will close out the series tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for 7:35. It will be the final game of the year between Bismarck and St. Cloud.
St. Cloud will be back at home on Thursday, July 5 as the team continues to celebrate Independence Day. The Rox will wear their military appreciation jerseys one last time. There will be post game fireworks.
