
Spiders End First Half with a Bang

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (21-14) took down the Battle Creek Bombers (16-19) 13-5 to close out the first half of the season as well as the Michigan road trip.
With two outs in the first inning Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) drove home the first two runs of the ball game.It was a huge inning for Fondy who picked up four runs and five hits in the first frame.
A scoreless 2nd frame would itch the Dock Spiders to get back to getting runs on the scoreboard. In the 3rd inning Jordan Prendiz (UCLA) sent home Bullock who had reached on a base hit early in the inning. The Spiders would also tack one on in the next at bat taking the early 6-0 advantage.
Austin Wagner (Ellsworth CC) would pitch the first four innings and allowed four hits, two earned runs, one walk, and dished out four strikeouts. Battle Creek would cut away at the 6-0 deficit adding two runs in the 4th and one in the 5th.
Troy Black (Kentucky) picked up a two RBI single with two outs to the push lead back to 8-3. The Bombers answered right back with one run of their own in the bottom of the 6th frame.
The 7th inning would be when the Dock Spiders would really pull away. Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) would get his third hit of the night leading things off. Jack Wassel (Minnesota) earned a one out two RBI single which pushed the lead to 10-3. With two outs in the inning Alex Erro (Northwestern) would keep his streak alive. He reached base for the third time tonight sending home two runners pushing the lead to nine. For Erro he finished the night 4 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Not only did he increase his hit streak to eleven games, he also now has sixteen RBI in his last five games.
Fondy would tack on one more run in the last inning thanks to the Northwestern Wildcat he picked up his third RBI of the night.
For Fond du Lac that set season highs in hits in a game recording seventeen. The stellar pitching of not only Wagner but also Nico Tellache (Oregon) who threw 4 innings allowing five hits, two earned runs, and gave out seven strikeouts can not go unlooked as the two were a dual threat.

Fond du Lac will be back at home tomorrow to host the Kenosha Kingfish. First pitch is at 5:05.
