Steelheads Win 2-1, Sweep Wranglers

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (26-22-6, 58 points) were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads (30-16-3, 63 points) 2-1 in front of 5,158 fans on Saturday night at QWest Arena. Steelheads Ryan MacGregor and Garett Bembridge each scored just over five minutes apart in the second period to help Idaho sweep Las Vegas. Goalie Rejean Beauchemin stopped 32 of 33 Wranglers shots for the Idaho win. Forward Hugo Carpentier scored in the loss, as the Wranglers fell to winless in their last six games (0-4-2). Las Vegas goalie Matt Keetley suffered the loss with 28 saves. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Monday at 6:05 PM (PST).

The Wranglers scored the only goal of the opening period at 10:04. Forward Hugo Carpentier poked in a rebound off a Chris St. Croix shot. Center Chris Neiszner also assisted on Carpentier's third goal in as many nights and his seventh of the season, giving Las Vegas a 1-0 lead after one period of play.

The Steelheads stormed back to tie the game at 6:23 of the second period. Steelheads forward Ryan MacGregor beat Matt Keetley with a wrist shot for his 19th goal of the season. Former Wrangler Garett Bembridge snapped a shot past the glove of Keetley at 11:34, scoring his 15th of the season and giving Idaho a 2-1 lead.

The Wranglers continue on a ten-game road trip with their next stop in Phoenix this Monday at 6:05 PM PST). Las Vegas will make stops in Stockton, Ontario, Bakersfield and Alaska before hosting the Idaho Steelheads on March 13th and 14th at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.
