Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (30-16-3) won 2-1 for their fourth win in a row, and third in a row against the Las Vegas Wranglers (26-22-6) in front of another sellout crowd of 5,158 at Qwest Arena.

Hugo Carpentier's 7th goal of the season came at 10:04 of the first period, assisted by Chris St. Croix and Chris Nieszner to put the Wranglers up 1-0, which is where the score would stay heading into the second period.

The Steelheads scored the second period's only goals. Bryan McGregor scored his 19th at 6:23, with Mark Bomersback tallying the assist. The goal came with the two squads playing four-on-four. Garett Bembridge put the Steelheads up 2-1 at 11:34 with his 15th, assisted by Ben Nelson.

At 12:21 of the second period, Matt Stephenson and Tim Spencer engaged in a fight that can most likely be tied to a Stephenson-on-Bret Tyler hit early in the second frame. In the fight, Spencer was guilty of eye gouging, and assessed a match penalty to accompany his fighting major.

The third period yielded no scoring, as Rejean Beauchemin and Matt Keetley continued to duel in the nets. Beauchemin gained the upper hand though with the win, stopping 32 of 33 shots. His record improves to 13-7-2 with the win.

Matt Keetley suffers the loss for Las Vegas. He stopped 28 of 30 shots, and his record falls to 1-2-1.

The Steelheads' homestand continues as they look for their fifth win in a row on Tuesday night against the Utah Grizzlies. Tickets are still available. Call (208) 331-TIXS for more information.
