Steelheads Suffer First Regulation Loss

Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - Coming off an impressive 6-1 win over the Peterborough Petes last night, the Steelheads looked to carry that momentum into tonight's contest against the Kingston Frontenacs. After posting a posting a 1.62 Goals Against Average, which is third amongst OHL goalies, Jack Flinn made his fourth consecutive start for the Trout. Kingston entered tonight's game after a five day rest that may have been well needed since all three of Frontenacs' games this season have required overtime (two of which went to a shootout).

Flinn and the Steelheads' penalty killers were put to the test early on as Luke Kutkevicius would sit for two on a hooking call. Despite some good chances for Mississauga, Kingston would be the first on the board as Spencer Watson opened the scoring at 11:27.

The middle frame saw a number of equal chances on both sides, but Owen Tippett would strike next, netting his first OHL goal to get the Trout on the board. Kutkevicius and Jared Walsh drew the assists on Tippett's game-tying goal. With time winding down in the period, Watson would regain the Frontenacs lead with his second of the night and third of the season.

Showing glimpses of brilliance, the Steelheads came out strong in the third looking for the equalizer. Unfortunately they couldn't get anything past the OHL's reigning Goalie of the Year, Lucas Peressini. The Frontenacs added an empty net goal at 19:47 for a 3-1 final.

Mississauga returns home this Sunday, October 4th to host the Flint Firebirds for a 2:00 pm start.
