Steelheads' Mouillierat, Lowe Head up to the AHL
December 27, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced early Tuesday morning that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads had made a series of roster moves.
First, the team loaned forward Ian Lowe (EYE-an) to its AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars. Lowe, 25, is making his first trip to the American Hockey League (the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America) after being the only player to skate in each of Idaho's first thirty games. The Bradwardine, Manitoba, native is third on the team in assists (12) and points (19) in his rookie season out of Bemidji State (MN).
Second, forward Kael Mouillierat has been re-loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. Mouillierat (MOLE-er-rat) was loaned to Bridgeport earlier this month, returned to Idaho for last week's home games, and was back with the Sound Tigers in time to skate for the club in a 3-2 victory over the Connecticut Whale Monday night. While with Idaho, the second-year pro out of Minnesota State leads the team with 14 goals, including a highlight-reel tally Friday night against the Aces that landed Mouillierat and the Steelheads on ESPN's "Top Plays."
Third, the team has dealt defenseman Brent Cornelius to the Greenville Road Warriors to complete the acquisition of goaltender Jerry Kuhn earlier this season. Kuhn is under contract with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL, who initially assigned him to Greenville. Connecticut later reassigned Kuhn to Idaho from Greenville and, in exchange, Idaho granted future considerations to the Road Warriors. Cornelius, the rookie blue liner from Fairbanks, AK, fulfills the considerations on that deal. In six games with Idaho, Cornelius had three assists and a plus-six rating.
Idaho returns to action Friday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise against the Pacific Division leaders, the Las Vegas Wranglers. The two teams will also tangle in downtown Boise on New Year's Eve with gametime each night coming at 7 PM. Tickets are available online at www.idahosteelheads.com or by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.TIXS.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
