Kuhn Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week
December 27, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Idaho Steelheads goaltender Jerry Kuhn has been selected as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Dec. 19 - 25.
During that time, Kuhn was 4-0 with a 2.08 goals-against average and .943 save percentage as the Steelheads picked up a win over Utah and three over defending Kelly Cup champion Alaska.
Each of the four games went beyond regulation as Idaho won one in overtime and the other three in shootouts. Kuhn stopped a combined total of 12 out of 14 shootout shooters in the victories.
Kuhn, who is under contract with Connecticut of the American Hockey League, is 10-6-3 with a .920 save percentage in 20 appearances with the Steelheads this season. He leads the ECHL in saves, is second in minutes played and is also tied for the ECHL single-game high in saves with 55 at Las Vegas on December 2 - one of six games this season where he has made at least 40 saves. The 55 saves also marks an Idaho Steelheads team record.
Kuhn is in his first full professional season out of Western Michigan. He made his pro debut with the Steelheads last season, including nine postseason games where he posted a 1.83 goals-against average.
Idaho returns to action Friday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise against the leaders of the Pacific division, the Las Vegas Wranglers. The two teams will also tangle in downtown Boise on New Year's Eve with game time each night coming at 7 PM. Tickets are available online at www.idahosteelheads.com or by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.TIXS.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket.
