
Colorado's Forney Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Michael Forney of the Colorado Eagles is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec.19-25.
The 23-year-old forward scored three goals, added three assists and was a +7 last week as the Eagles went 3-0-0 to improve their unbeaten streak to 11 games (9-0-2).
Forney tallied three points (1g-2a) and was +2 in a 6-4 win at Las Vegas on Tuesday and added the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory at Bakersfield on Wednesday. He ended the week with two points (1g-1a) and was +3 in a 6-0 win against Utah on Friday.
Under contract to Winnipeg of the National Hockey League, Forney has 26 points (11g-15a) in 29 games with Colorado this season. He has tallied 118 points (43g-75a) in 158 career ECHL games with Gwinnett and Colorado, and last season represented the Gladiators in the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield. Forney also has seen action in 12 career AHL games with Chicago, notching two assists.
On behalf of Michael Forney, a case of pucks will be donated to a Colorado youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
Runners Up: Marc Rancourt, Idaho (4 gp, 2g, 2a, 4 pts.) and Olivier Labelle, Reading (2 gp, 4g, 1a, 5 pts.).
