Brampton Steelheads News Release
The Steelheads opened the scoring as Cole Schwindt made a pass from behind the net to find Richard Whittaker, who quickly one-timed a shot past Hunter Jones. The Petes answered back under a minute later, as Zach Gallant raised a wrist shot over the shoulder of Joe Ranger off the rush. With Peterborough racing in on a breakaway, Chas Sharpe made a great defensive effort to lift Michael Little's stick to keep the game tied at one. Whittaker fed Thomas Harley a pass on a give-and-go, who made a nice move around Peterborough's defenceman, to make the score 2-1. The Steelheads took the lead to locker-room, with Joe Ranger stopping 23/24 shots on goal in the period (.958 SV%).
With the Steelheads killing a major penalty, the Petes took advantage as Zach Gallant scored his second of the game to tie the score at two. Peterborough would tally two more goals on the same powerplay to increase their lead to 4-2. That would be all for the second period, as Mississauga headed to the intermission needing a comeback for the third.
Peterborough got off to a quick start to the third period, as Nick Robertson scored his second of the game beating Ranger up high on a 3-on-1. A few minutes later, Tucker Robertson took advantage of a giveaway in front of the net to make the score 6-2. The Petes would add a few more to put the game out of reach. Before the end of the regulation, Michael Stubbs took a shot from the top of the faceoff circle to score his first OHL goal.
Thomas Harley extended his point streak to 10 games (7G, 10A) with a goal in the first period, while Nick Isaacson tied a season high with 7 shots on goal.
