Brampton Steelheads News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Steelheads continued their 3-in-3 Saturday evening with a trip down the QEW to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs. Mississauga looked to carry the momentum of a 5-0 win over the Niagara IceDogs Friday night, while the Bulldogs looked to bounce back following a 4-3 loss to the North Bay Battalion.
Each team looked to establish themselves in the opening frame, but both Flinn and Fulcher turned away all the shots they faced to keep the game scoreless after one.
The Bulldogs would be the first to strike midway through the second as Trent Fox went top shelf on Flinn. Brandon Saigeon and Benjamin Gleason picked up the assists on Fox's 18th of the season. Hamilton continued to keep the pressure on as Niki Petti extended their lead 2-0 followed by Saigeon who added another before time ran out in the middle frame, from Adam Laishram and Fox, to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Down 3-0, Joseph Murdaca came in for Mississauga to start the third. Captain, Josh Burnside would solve Fulcher in the third to get Mississauga on the board. Michael McLeod drew the assist on Burnsides 10th of the season. Unfortunately that would be as close as Mississauga would get as Matt Strome added another for the Bulldogs in the third for a 4-1 final.
The Steelheads close out the weekend tomorrow afternoon at the Hershey Centre when they host the Barrie Colts for a 3pm start.
