Brampton Steelheads News Release
Sudbury, ON - The Steelheads wrapped up the weekend earning another hard fought two points in a Sunday matinee matchup with the Wolves. After a tough loss to the North Bay Battalion Friday night, Mississauga found themselves back in the win column after coming from behind with a 5-4-overtime victory.
Despite a number of good chances, it was a scoreless opening frame. The Steelheads came close to taking an early lead but had a goal waved off. Jack Flinn stopped 11 shots in the period while Zack Bowman turned away all 14 shots he faced.
Patrick Murphy would capitalize on the power play early in the second to open the scoring. Alan Lyszczarczk and Kyle Capobianco assisted on Murphy's 12th of the season. The Steelheads were quick to respond with a power play goal of their own as Nicolas Hague buried his 10th of the season to tie the game at 1. Mason Marchment recorded the assist on Hague's power play goal. Sudbury would add two more goals before the period came to an end from David Levin and Mikkel Aagaard.
Mississauga came out flying in the third, with three unanswered goals in the first eight minutes of the frame. Everett Clark scored his 12th of the season and Josh Burnside buried back-to-back goals to give the Steelheads a 4-3 lead. However, the Wolves weren't ready to give up as Dmitry Sokolov showed some incredible patience to wait out Jack Flinn and even the score 4-4.
Mason Marchment made a beautiful play and pass to Daniel Muzito-Bagenda, who notched his 17th goal of the season and seventh in eight games, to win it in overtime. Mississauga was 2/10 on the power play, the Wolves 1/3. The Steelheads are in Oshawa Wednesday and return home to host the Owen Sound Attack on Friday.
