Niagara IceDogs News Release
Today marked Billy Burkes 400th game behind the bench as an assistant coach for the IceDogs as the head to take on the Kingston Frontenacs. The Icedogs set to play a big Sportsnet game this afternoon at Kingston's K-Rock Centre. With last night's game being postponed due to unsafe ice conditions, the IceDogs had a few extra days of rest coming into this afternoon's game.
The IceDogs came out strong in the first period showing a lot of energy, as they looked well rested. It was a physical battle in the opening period and both teams spent some time in the box. The IceDogs fought hard on the penalty kill after a questionable call, but unfortunately the fell a goal short in the ladder end of the period.
The second period action continued as the IceDogs came out with vengeance to come back from a goal deficit. After a defensive mix up in the IceDogs zone, the Dogs fall by a 2-0 score. In the late minutes of the period the IceDogs pushed to come back heading to the third with some energy.
After a tough third period the IceDogs ended up falling short to the Frontenacs by a 4-0 score. The IceDogs managed to match their opponent in shots but were unable to find the back of the net.
The IceDogs next home game is next Saturday February 27th as they set to take on the Guelph Storm. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games can be purchased at any IceDogs ticket location
