Steelheads Ask Fans To Donate Pet Food For Homeless Pets

February 7, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho¾ The Steelheads are asking fans to remember pets this Valentine's Day and to bring a bag of pet food to donate at the game on Wednesday, February 13th to help homeless cats and dogs through Northwest Animal Companions. The Steelheads will give fans a 2-for-1 coupon to an upcoming game for every donation.

In addition, fans may purchase a chew toy at the door to toss on the ice when the Steelheads score their first goal of the game, similar to the Toys for Tots Toss done during Christmas. Every chew toy purchased will come with a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a team-autographed jersey and other Steelheads prizes. Petco is donating the chew toys and 100 percent of the money raised will go to help homeless animals.

Northwest Animal Companions is a 100 percent volunteer-run, 501(c)(3), non-profit animal welfare organization. Last year, NAC spayed and neutered over 1200 cats and dogs and adopted 575 homeless animals to loving homes. 200 acres of land on Bogus Basin Road has been donated to NAC and will soon be a no-kill animal sanctuary named Almost Home.

Visit http://nacidaho.com/ to learn more and to purchase a discounted ticket with proceeds going to NAC.
