Wranglers Lend Hand To Habitat For Humanity Las Vegas
February 7, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - As part of the Wranglers ongoing support of not-for-profit organizations in the Las Vegas community, the Wranglers have announced that the entire roster of players, as well as members of the coaching and front office staffs, will be assisting in the construction of a home for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, February 9th.
The Wranglers will visit a site in Las Vegas. There are seven homes currently under construction on land donated to Habitat for Humanity by the City of Las Vegas. The seven homes at one time will represent the largest build that Habitat Las Vegas has taken on. The homes are scheduled to be finished by the end of March. There are five three-bedroom homes, one two-bedroom home and one four-bedroom home. The houses will become home to seven different families with a total 14 children.
Established in Clark County, Nevada in 1991, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas has completed 62 homes. Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas is a not-for-profit organization that builds decent, affordable housing with the help of volunteer labor and donated time, materials and funds. Each home is sold at no profit and with a no-interest mortgage to local working families who otherwise might be forced to live in substandard housing. These families contribute "sweat equity" by helping in the construction of their own homes.
Habitat for Humanity partnered through the Las Vegas Wranglers Community First Awareness Program on January 11, 2008 with Hockey for Homes Night. The Community First Awareness Program spotlights a local cause each month by offering a t-shirt and ticket, or ticket only option, with proceeds benefiting the not-for-profit organization. The Wranglers have several more Awareness Nights planned for this season, with the next benefiting the American Heart Association on February 15th.
