Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced that Domino's Pizza and the team will present Hooks And Heels 2008 on February 21 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, an evening program that will showcase the game of hockey's hidden elements both on and off the ice to the teams' female fans.
"Hooks and Heels is a program we're bringing back from previous seasons to provide a unique behind the scenes view into the game of hockey. Fans will be able to see how the team functions as a whole; from the equipment manager, athletic trainers and medical staff to the ice crew that keeps the playing surface at ideal conditions," stated Sea Wolves vice president of marketing Chris Birch. "We hope to build on the success of past events and continue to offer this experience in the future to fans looking to learn more about the game from a different perspective."
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a "pre-game meal" and meet-and-greet session with the Sea Wolves players and staff. At 6:30, participants will divide up into groups and begin cycling through seven stations that will highlight different aspects of the game of professional ice hockey. Participants will get to learn about conditioning and player medical treatment with Sea Wolves athletic trainer Mike Ermatinger, a locker room tour with equipment questions answered by Sea Wolves players, a tour of the players lounge and a skate sharpening demonstration with Sea Wolves equipment manager Donny White, puck handling drills and shoot-and-score activities with the players, a Zamboni and ice-surface discussion with building engineers, and a radio broadcast session with Sea Wolves play-by-play man Leif Skodnick.
The cost of the evening is $30, and includes a t-shirt and refreshments. Fans can register at the Sea Wolves office at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum or by calling the team's office at 228.275.WOLF!
