Former Hampton Roads Admirals Lalime Named MeiGray Group Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Hampton Roads Admirals and current Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Patrick Lalime is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for January.

The St. Bonaventure, Quebec native was 4-1-1 with a 1.91 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage as Chicago went 4-9-1 in January.

After stopping 34 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss at Montreal on Jan. 8, the 33 year old began a season-high four-game winning streak when he made 35 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped two of three shooters in the shootout for a 3-2 win at Nashville on Jan. 13. After turning aside 32 shots in a 6-1 win against St. Louis on Jan. 16, he had 22 saves and stopped three of four shots in the shootout for a 2-1 win at Colorado on Jan. 18 and then recorded a season-high 38 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping both shooters in the shootout for a 2-1 win at Phoenix on Jan. 19.

Selected in the sixth round (156th overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1993 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Lalime is 8-6-1 with a 2.48 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 17 games with the Blackhawks. The 6-foot-3 and 189-pound Lalime is 175-136-41 with 34 shutouts, a 2.51 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in 365 games in eight seasons in the NHL with Chicago, Ottawa, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

He began his professional career in 1994-95 with Hampton Roads and was 15-7-3 with two shutouts, 3.35 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage in 26 games while also playing in the International Hockey League where he was 7-10-4 with a goals-against average of 4.44 and a save percentage of .882 in 23 games for Cleveland.

The ECHL is the top developmental league for both the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League. It has affiliations with 26 of the 30 teams in the NHL, marking the 11th consecutive season that the league has had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL, and with 26 of the 29 teams in the AHL. There have been 347 former ECHL players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL.

The leading distributor of game-worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 4,000 game-worn ECHL jerseys since the program began in 2002-03, including nearly 1,000 each of the past three seasons.
