
State Farm Named Title Sponsor Of Lone Star Faceoff, FSN To Broadcast Six Games Of The In-State Riva

Cedar Park, TX - In conjunction with State Farm, FSN, the Houston Aeros and San Antonio Rampage, Texas Stars President Rick McLaughlin announced on Tuesday that State Farm is the title sponsor of the Lone Star Faceoff and six games of the in-state rivalry will be televised by FSN.
"The Lone Star Face-off is just one of the ways Texas-based State Farm agents in Houston, Austin and San Antonio can support Texas hockey fans", said Ronnie Vandiver, Texas Zone Marketing Manager for State Farm. "We can't think of a better way, than to have a round-robin playoff system determine which team is the best in Texas. Texans love good competition and State Farm is always eager to be a part of it."
FSN will televise the State Farm Lone Star Faceoff live in the greater Austin area, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio on a combination of FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Houston and FOX Sports Plus. The home team is responsible for providing the play-by-play talent, while FSN analyst and former NHL defenseman, Brent Severyn will broadcast all six games. Joe O'Donnell, the voice of the Aeros, will broadcast two games with Severyn in Houston. Stars broadcaster, Josh Fisher, will broadcast both games at Cedar Park Center with Severyn. The Rampage will supply the play-by-play talent to partner with Severyn for their home broadcast.
"As part of our 'Hockey Night in Texas' initiative, we're excited to showcase the talented AHL teams and players across the state," said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. "This series will give fans throughout the state a chance to witness the exciting style of hockey played in Texas and will allow them to follow the future stars of the NHL on television. State Farm Lone Star Faceoff
The competition originated from a collective desire among the three participating teams to celebrate and promote the sport of hockey in the Lone Star State. The competition's title was chosen by fans through an online poll posted on each teams' respective Web site.
Terms of the competition state that each team will face off against the other two Texas teams on 12 occasions (six home, six away), respectively, during AHL regular season play. The club holding the most points between the three participants at the end of the season will be deemed champion and receive a trophy.
At the mid-point of the season, Texas is currently in first place with a 5-1-0-1 mark against Houston and a 4-2-0-0 record against San Antonio this year for 19 total points. Houston is 4-2-1-0 against San Antonio and 2-4-1-0 against Texas this year for a total of 17 points, while San Antonio has 13 points.
Texas will play Houston five more times this season and San Antonio six more times. The Rampage and Aeros meet five more times for a total of 16 games remaining in the State Farm Lone Star Face-off.
The Stars continue the State Farm Lone Star Faceoff with San Antonio tonight at 7:30 PM at Cedar Park Center. The first 3,000 fans receive a Texas Stars Puck Bottle Opener. The Stars will also host the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 PM on Friday, Jan. 15, handing out Texas Stars Fleece Blankets to the first 2,000 fans. Also, fans will be able to purchase $2.00 domestic drafts and $1.00 hot dogs. All games can be heard on the Stars flagship station ESPNAustin 104.9 FM "The Horn" or ESPNAustin 1530-AM.
