Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON - The Houston Aeros, in conjunction with the San Antonio Rampage, the Texas Stars and State Farm, today announced that State Farm is the title sponsor of the rivalry series "Lone Star Faceoff." The inaugural "State Farm Lone Star Faceoff" is a competition between the three Texas based American Hockey League (AHL) clubs.
"The Lone Star Faceoff is just one of the ways Texas-based State Farm agents in Houston, Austin and San Antonio can support Texas hockey fans", said Ronnie Vandiver, Texas Zone Marketing Manager for State Farm. "We can't think of a better way, than to have a round-robin playoff system determine which team is the best in Texas. Texans love good competition and State Farm is always eager to be a part of it."
The teams also announced today a six-game television schedule on FOX Sports Net. The games will be televised throughout Texas and the Southwest region on FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Houston and FOX Sports Plus, which combined reach over 10 million cable and satellite TV homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and parts of New Mexico.
"We're excited to be a part of this series," said FOX Sports Houston Senior Vice President/General Manager Steve Tello. "The AHL features an exciting style of hockey. We look forward to promoting the talented teams and players as part of our 'Hockey Night in Texas' initiative that will give fans across the state a chance to follow the future stars of the NHL."
The Aeros will be featured in five of the six games, including two games from Toyota Center on Saturday, February 27 against Texas and Friday, March 5 against San Antonio. The Aeros will also play at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, April 8 and at Cedar Park Center against Texas on Saturday, April 3.
"We are very excited about expanding our partnership with FOX Sports Net and including State Farm in the rivalry between the three teams," said Aeros Executive Vice President of Business Operations Jamie Spencer. "This is a tremendous opportunity to team up with San Antonio and Texas to showcase hockey in and around the state of Texas."
