-SPIKES RETURN TO START LAST HOME STRETCH: The State College Spikes have six games remaining and control their own playoff destiny as they sit atop the New York-Penn League Wild Card standings. Tonight, the Spikes continue their 10th Season with the opener of three-game series against the Batavia Muckdogs at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The matchup begins a five-game homestand for the Spikes to conclude the regular season home slate. State College is currently tied for first in the Wild Card standings with West Virginia, but holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Black Bears. State College is 5-4 against the Muckdogs this season, including a series win at home July 18-20. Tonight marks the 100th meeting all-time between the two clubs, with the Spikes holding a slight edge in the all-time series, 50-49.

-LAST GAME: R.J. Dennard slugged the first two home runs of his professional career to spearhead the State College attack as the Spikes took the lead in the New York-Penn League Wild Card race with a 9-2 victory over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Tuesday night at Eastwood Field. Dennard started his evening with a majestic two-run shot to right field to put the Spikes in front. The Armstrong State product then capped the scoring with another two-run homer to right field. Orlando Olivera and Craig Aikin also produced RBI singles for State College, while Michael Massi aided the cause in the fourth when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Spikes also received another quality start on the mound from Dailyn Martinez. Martinez went six innings and yielded two runs, one of them earned, on seven hits and a walk. The righty also struck out three batters in the win.

-SPIKES GO TO ALL-STAR PEREZ: State College right-hander Juan Perez, an NYPL All-Star in 2015, gets his 12th start of the season as he takes the hill for the Spikes. Perez tied a single-game franchise record with 10 strikeouts over seven innings against Batavia on July 18, and makes his fourth start of the year against the Muckdogs. Last time out, the San Felipe, Venezuela native allowed four runs on eight hits, two walks and a hit batsman, but did not factor in the decision against Auburn on Friday. Perez is 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA against Batavia this season.

-HOLLOWAY GETS BALL FOR MUCKDOGS: Batavia right-hander Jordan Holloway will make his 13th start of the year for the Muckdogs tonight. Holloway pitched five shutout innings for the win against Williamsport on Friday, striking out four batters in the process. The Arvada, CA native was drafted by the Marlins in the 20th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Ralston Valley High School, and started the 2015 season with Single-A Greensboro, making two appearances. Holloway has produced four quality starts (six innings or more, three earned runs or less), with three of them in August.
