-SPIKES FINISH RUN VS. DOUBLEDAYS: The State College Spikes meet the Batavia Muckdogs tonight for the first time in 2011. The two teams will face each other six consecutive times, with three games at Dwyer Stadium followed by three at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Batavia leads the all-time series, 28-22, and has taken 13 of 24 matchups at Dwyer Stadium.

-LAST GAME: Billy Nowlin collected three hits in his second game as a State College Spike, but a big fourth inning by the Auburn Doubledays was the difference as the Spikes fell, 4-2, on Tuesday night at Falcon Park. Nowlin, who joined the team on Monday and produced two runs batted in during his debut, plated Alex Fuselier in the first inning for State College's first run. Two batters later, Derek Trent singled to drive in Nowlin and make it 2-0, Spikes. Auburn responded by scoring all four of its runs in the fourth inning off Ryan Hafner to deal the right-hander his first loss. Fuselier, Justin Bencsko and Matt Skriving joined Nowlin as Spikes with multi-hit games.

-ALLIE TO MAKE FOURTH START: 2010 second-round draft pick Stetson Allie gets the fourth start of his professional career for the Spikes tonight. Allie made the best start of his career last time out against Mahoning Valley at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, going four innings and striking out five. The right-hander allowed one run on five hits in the game, but three of the hits were infield singles. Baseball America rates Allie as the 3rd-best Pirates prospect.

-MANESS ON THE MOUND FOR BATAVIA: Right-hander Seth Maness gets the ball for the Muckdogs tonight. Maness, whose given name is Michael, was a 31st round draft pick of the Cardinals in 2011 out of East Carolina. Maness allowed a run, albeit an unearned one, for the first time as a pro last time out against Jamestown. The Pinehurst, NC native went a career-high six innings, but did not factor in the decision.
