Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Auburn Doubledays jumped out to an early advantage and the Jamestown Jammers couldn't overcome it as they fell to the Doubledays, 6-2, at Diethrick Park Wednesday night.

Auburn struck for single tallies in the second and third and added to it in the late innings to move into a first place tie with the Jammers at 12-8.

Brent Keys, Ryan Goetz and Terrence Dayleg each had two hits to lead the Jamestown offensive attack.

Angelberth Montilla got the Doubledays on the board with a solo homer over the left field fence to start the second inning.

The Doubledays would tack on another run in the third on a pair of singles and an RBI ground out.

Jamestown would load up the bases with one out in the bottom of the third inning with two singles and a walk, but Colin Bates would get a strike out and fly out to escape the damage.

However, the Jammers would get a run in the bottom fourth. Eddie Rodriguez reached on a throwing error, and he moved to third on a single and passed ball. Yefri Perez delivered a RBI ground out to cut the deficit in half, but Viosergy Rosa was left stranded at third.

The score would stay the same until the top of the sixth inning when Adrian Nieto doubled to start the inning and advanced to third on a fielding error. He scored on a Matt Skole ground out to push the lead back to two.

Another run scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, but Jamestown would answer in the eighth as Rodriguez walked with one out, and Perez connected for a RBI double to slice the lead in half again.

However, Jimenez would deliver a two-run long ball in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Matthew Neil took his first loss of the season to fall to 0-1. He went six innings, gave up seven hits with two earned runs and five strikeouts, but he failed to get run support as the purple and green finished 0-11 with runners in scoring position.

Bates earned the win to go to 2-1. He gave up one unearned run in five innings, and Ben Grisz picked up the save.

The Jammers and Doubledays would be back in action tonight at 7:05 p.m. with first place on the line in the Pinckney Division.
