-SPIKES BRING MOMENTUM HOME: The State College Spikes, winners of five of their last six games, return home to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Friday for the first of two home games against the Jamestown Jammers. The matchup will also be the first of four straight games between the two teams, marking the fifth run of four or more games against the same team for the 2011 Spikes. State College is 22-31 against Jamestown all-time.
-LAST GAME: The Spikes scored the lone run of the game in the first inning, and Mike Jefferson, Jordan Cooper and Jesus Brito combined to make the lead stand up as the Spikes took back-to-back road victories for the first time in 2011 with a 1-0 win over the Vermont Lake Monsters on Thursday afternoon at Centennial Field. Junior Sosa scored the State College run on Chris Lashmet's fielder's choice. Jefferson started for State College and allowed just one hit to Vermont in the first four innings, Cooper was the second straight State College pitcher to earn his first professional victory, and Brito picked up the save.
-KINGHAM ON HILL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Nick Kingham gets his tenth start of the year for the Spikes on the heels of his second pro victory. Kingham went five innings and allowed one run to Lowell on Sunday to grab the win, walking one and striking out three. In each of his last three starts, the Pirates' 2010 fourth-round draft pick has allowed one run on a solo home run. Kingham has a 19-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio at home this season.
-REYES LOOKS TO HELP JAMMERS: Jamestown right-hander Helpi Reyes gets the ball tonight to start the first of four games against the Spikes. Reyes has taken the loss in each of his last two starts, and allowed eight runs, four of them earned, on seven hits and three walks over 3 2/3 innings against Staten Island last time out. Reyes went five innings and was tagged with the loss against the Spikes in the second game of a June 24 doubleheader.
